To the south of Lisbon, just after the impressive bridges that cross the Tagus, a region opens up marked by the contrast between city life and the relaxed atmosphere of the coast. Setúbal is a commercial and dynamic city, with the constant shuttle of the ferry to Tróia, connecting the south of the country to Lisbon.

• Little English spoken, but a lot of friendliness and availability from the inhabitants.

The main attraction is the Fortress of São Filipe, with its blue chapel and sunny terrace. From there, the view is breathtaking: over the city, the river Sado, the Tróia peninsula and the Atlantic.

Sesimbra is a holiday destination par excellence, protected by the headwaters of Lisbon and with extensive golden sandy beaches.
